Customers told us that they are looking for high-density, cost efficient multi-channel optics in their data center applications. They are also looking to replace bulky copper interconnects for higher data rates with easy to install fibers.
iFlame™ is the industry's first chip-scale 4-channel optical transceiver. Aimed at data center applications such as Ethernet, InfiniBand and FiberChannel. The iFlame enables high-speed, high-density, low-cost interconnect for a variety of optical applications. The iFlame features an array of four VCSELs and four photo-diodes for data rates of 1.25Gbps to 5Gbps per channel, for a total aggregate of up to 20Gbps. iFlame is XLoom's second generation series of optical chips and is based on XLoom's patented wafer-level XFlame™ technology.
iFlame target applications include: Optical-electrical media converters, optical active cables as well as traditional transceivers such as the upcoming QSFP.
